He deserves support.” Earlier, Trump said Ukraine needed “a new leader” a day after the US president struck a deal allowing Russia to supply diesel to global markets, and as Moscow launched strikes on Ukrainian civilians, killing 20 people including three children. Trump on Saturday also called on Zelenskyy to stop hitting Russian oil refineries, saying: “He better damn well stop.” Trump made the comments to reporters at the White House. Zelenskyy on Friday had reacted furiously to Trump’s deal with Putin, calling it “terrible” and “not fair and not honest”. Further ratcheting up the tension, Trump said Vladimir Putin would like to reach a deal on the war with Ukraine , and without evidence accused Zelenskyy of resisting a compromise. “Russia would like to make a deal … but for whatever reason, Zelenskyy does not want to make a deal,” Trump told reporters. “President Putin would like to see a settlement, strongly,” Trump said of a phone conversation he had with the Russian leader on Friday. The British prime minister, Andy Burnham, has moved to quickly back Zelenskyy , telling his Ukrainian counterpart they were in “complete solidarity”. In a call between the two leaders, Burnham told Zelenskyy he recognised that “the past 24 hours had been difficult for Ukraine and reiterated his complete solidarity”, according to a Downing Street readout. The leaders discussed “the importance of maintaining pressure on Russia”, with Burnham making it clear the UK “would continue to strengthen its sanctions on Russia and to take further action to constrain the Russian war machine”. They agreed to meet in person in the coming days, the readout added. US negotiators Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, who have spearheaded efforts to broker a Ukraine peace agreement, may visit Moscow within the next two weeks , Russian state news reported on Saturday, citing a source. A delegation of Ukrainian officials who visited Miami for talks on ending Russia’s war in Ukraine was on Saturday heading home , an aide to Zelenskyy said. “The groups are already on their way home,” Dmytro Lytvyn, an adviser to the president, told reporters. Vladimir Putin’s top economic negotiator on Saturday welcomed Trump’s call to replace Zelenskyy, describing his remarks as “ historic” . “President Trump joins the many who believe that Ukraine needs leadership actually focused on peace,” Kirill Dmitriev, the Kremlin’s special envoy on economic cooperation, said in a post on X. Germany’s “support for Ukraine in its struggle to defend itself remains unfailing,” he said. “Diplomatic efforts for a peaceful solution continue.” Russia’s defence ministry said its drones had struck a data-processing centre in Kyiv earlier on Saturday and a cargo ship carrying military supplies to the Ukrainian port of Odesa . Dwarf Fortress uses version control now
I remember hearing a while ago that Dwarf Fortress didn't use version control. That fact has been lodged in my head, because given its inherent complexity I have trouble imagining a codebase that would benefit from version control more . That's art. I went looking and I'm sad to report that the days without version control appear to have ended. Quoting Tarn Adams over time: March 2013: "I don't use version control -- I didn't like the feeling of having the code get committed into a black box thingy with no immediate upside" March 2016: "I don’t even use version control. If you don’t know what that is then you’re not gonna yell at me. If you even know what version control is you’re gonna be like, ‘You don’t use version control? You don’t use source control? What is wrong with you? How can you even work? I’m just not cut out for it, in a sense. It’s been 15 years, so the reasons have change over time, but that’s my current understanding of it." March 2023: "I've got Discord channels to check and version control stuff to use now, so the process is definitely a little more involved" That March 2023 quote comes from an interview about the release on Steam which made them millionaires . Hi HN, I'm Josh. WallHop is a free paywall bypass: paste an article URL (or prefix any URL with wallhop.io/) and you get the readable article without the paywall popup, ads or clutter. No signup, no extension. I built it after 12ft.io went away. The News Media Alliance took it down in July 2025 and I missed having something I could hit from my phone. How it works: it started as a fork of everywall/ladder (GPL-3.0) and I've modified it heavily since. Instead of relying on one trick, it chains several bypass methods per request and falls back to archive.is when they all fail, so one site blocking one technique doesn't break it. Things that might be interesting: - iOS Shortcut: on iPhone, tap Share > WallHop from any article in Safari or another app. This is how I use it 95% of the time. - It works on Medium member-only posts, which 12ft never handled. - Bookmarklet for desktop, plus /raw/ and /api/ endpoints if you want to script it. I've tested it against most major news outlets and a bunch of local papers. It won't work everywhere. There are SOME server-side paywalls that are out of reach, and I'd rather say that up front. Saudi authorities say the latest attack on the international airport in the capital, Riyadh, has killed 12 people and injured over 300. Their statement says the dead on Saturday included four Saudi citizens as well as two Bangladeshi nationals, a Palestinian, a U.S. citizen, an Egyptian, a Jordanian, a Syrian and a Sudanese. It said some of those injured were in critical condition. The attack — the latest of several in the past week on King Khalid International Airport — is expected to increase Saudi pressure on allies including the United States to provide military support for the kingdom.
