The Kotlin Multiplatform Contest is back!
Students and recent graduates, turn your idea into a cross-platform project with Kotlin Multiplatform (KMP).
The authors of the top three projects will each win a trip to KotlinConf 2027 in Kraków, Poland, with conference tickets, travel, and accommodation covered by the Kotlin Foundation. Authors of all other valid entries will receive Kotlin souvenirs.
Submissions are open until December 7, 2026.
Join the contest
Your project can be a game, a developer utility, a productivity app, an experiment with AI, or something entirely different. It needs to be created specifically for the contest, use KMP, and run on at least two platforms. Target Android, iOS, desktop, web, backend, or beyond.
Last year, we received 88 submissions, with 76 eligible entries from more than 30 countries. Participants built everything from AI-powered learning tools to social-impact projects and accessibility apps.
We can’t wait to see what you build this year!
Important dates
Submission deadline: December 7, 2026, 23:59 CET
Winners announced: December 21, 2026
KotlinConf 2027: April 22–23, 2027, Kraków, Poland

You don’t need to know KMP before entering. This year’s contest page includes resources to help you get started, including the new KMP Contest Starter Kit.
The starter kit is an open-source starting point for developers new to KMP. It provides an AI-assisted path from idea to app, with ready-to-use agent skills, prompts, and workflows designed to help you build and test your applications. It complements the official KMP documentation.
Other resources include:
Kotlin Multiplatform learning resources.
PeopleInSpace: Multiplatform sample projects.
Kotlin AI examples.

What previous participants built
Over the past four years, participants have built projects spanning education, health and well-being, sustainability, developer tools, games, and plenty of unexpected ideas.
Here are just a few of the things they’ve built:
🧑🌾 AI assistant for farmers.
🛗 Office elevator controller.
🛟 Flood rescue device.
🎹 Synthesizer that lets you hear mathematical equations.
🤖 Robot control app.
🐣 Egg encyclopedia.
🏓 Game that turns your phone into a ping-pong racket.
Your project doesn’t need to fit a particular category. Build something you find useful, interesting, or simply fun, and use KMP to bring it to life across platforms.
What previous winners say
“You don’t need to be a Kotlin expert to enter; I definitely wasn’t. Kotlin Multiplatform let me share almost everything across Android and iOS, and still go native where it mattered. That’s what turned an idea into something real.” – Javier Quilumba
“The contest was a really good excuse to push myself and see how far I could take Kotlin Multiplatform with an actual product, rather than just experimenting with it.” – Tochukwu Adrian Ikeaba
“Kotlin Multiplatform showed me that you can just start building things. It became a starting point for many of my later projects, helped me explore new technologies, and the trip to KotlinConf was truly inspiring.” – Valerii Ovchinnikov
“Winning the contest and traveling to KotlinConf was an incredible experience. It gave me the opportunity to connect with the community and learn directly from industry experts.” – Mikołaj Lemański
“To me, it was important that I managed to do something I was proud of and learn something along the way.” – Andreea-Ștefana Vrabie
Ready to build?
You have until December 7 to take an idea, turn it into a KMP project, and submit it.
Build across platforms. Experiment with something new. And perhaps we’ll see you at KotlinConf 2027 in Kraków!
